Art Startups – ArtBinder Raised $3.17M
One of the trends that keep increasing and keep attracting more investors as well as entrepreneurs is the art market. Startups for online sales such as Paddle8, Auctionata, and others as well as startups for improving services such as collection management and more are popping up frequently. Among the startups that aim to change the way, galleries manage their collections is ArtBinder Inc.
Alexandra Chemla, a graduate of Brown University, established ArtBinder in 2010 after she couldn’t find a solution for managing collections for the gallery she worked for. ArtBinder helps galleries, collectors, and artists to better manage their collections. In July 2014 the company has raised $3.17 million in a Series A funding round led by Index Ventures.
The company managed to attract key investors, among them Leon Black, CEO, and founder of Apollo Global Management; Matt Cohler, former VP of product at Facebook; and Adam Freed, former COO of Etsy.
