
Madrid is a great city for Art and Culture and I was surprised to discover all the beautiful galleries in Madrid. Every year in September there is an event that open officially the art season in Madrid. This event names Apertura start this weekend, Thursday, September 11, 2014. Here is more information:
“Apertura, is organised annually by ARTE_MADRID. Every September, events take place throughout day and night with 44 contemporary art galleries simultaneously inaugurating their exhibitions. It includes a complete program of activities in museums, art centers and galleries that boosts Spanish plastic arts and cultural industries on both a national and international scale…
On Saturday 13, the traditional “Brunch at Galleries” (You can read more in my previous post) will take place. It is an invitation to approach art in a different way.
In parallel, from Thursday until Saturday, with the collaboration of ARCO, Apertura will offer the ARCO GALLERY Walk: tours guided by experts around different galleries of the city.
Comunidad de Madrid and Arte_Madrid organize conferences –Encuentros en Comunidad– in order to approach contemporary art collecting to new audiences.
Top institutions of the capital wanted to join Apertura 2014. It will happen through the “Other Activities” organized on Friday and Saturday. Museo Thyssen, Museo Reina Sofía, Fundación Lázaro Galdiano, Conde Duque, Sala Canal de Isabel II, Fundación Mapfre, Fundación Telefónica, CentroCentro, Museo ABC, Centro de Arte 2 de Mayo… will open their doors offering tours to their exhibitions guided by directors or curators.”
